Rainbow Cookie Project 🍪🌈
Growing up in New York City, I learned the joys of rainbow cookies from a very young age, and to this day, they are still my favorite. When I moved back to NYC in 2021, I started to survey the local bakeries in Astoria to find my new go-to rainbow cookie, and realized this quest needs a controlled data set, which led to the Rainbow Cookie Project. I visited every bakery in Queens that had Rainbow Cookies, conducted a blind taste test, and rated each one based on key factors: the chocolate, almond flavor, cake texture, jam filling, and vibrant color.
I had a team of 4 tasters with different preferences, ensuring that the ratings cover a wide range of opinions. Each bakery gets its own profile, so you can learn more about what makes their cookie special. Plus, there’s a handy recommendation page in case we missed any hidden gems in our search! My close friend Adrienne Tong helped in designing the project in Figma and I brought her designs to life.
I created this page using Adobe Illustrator, D3, HTML/CSS, Figma, and Excel.
Position: Passion project
Role: Creator and Front-End Developer
Using javascript and d3, every chart and graphic is built dynamically. As I add in a bakery, it will dynamically create the chart and add in the profile of the bakery. This way, I can continue to build out the project as I want to without having to make charts in illustrator.
